Life#
Born in Istanbul in 1877/78 (AH 1294), Mehmet Arif Efendi came from the Muslim (Müslüman) community. Schooling took seven years, at a middle school (Rüşdiye Mektebi).
At about 20, in 1897/98, Mehmet Arif began work in Kozani (Kozana), paid from the start, on 500 kuruş a month. The first annual entry, for 1897/98, places Mehmet Arif in Kozani as a communications official (Muhabere Memuru). The last posts were in Livadi and Kozani from 1899 to 1903 and Bitola (Manastır) in 1904/05, with a rise to director of the third grade (3. Müdür) in 1899/1900.
