Life#
Mehmet Sabri Efendi was born in Ibradi in 1876/77 (AH 1293) into the Muslim (Müslüman) community. Schooling took seven years, at a middle school (Rüşdiye Mektebi); Mehmet Sabri also held a qualification (a diploma, certificate, training or decoration).
Work began in Debrei bala in 1896/97, at about 20, with one unpaid year as a mülazım (apprentice) before a first salary of 250 kuruş. The annual lists begin in 1897/98, with Mehmet Sabri as a communications official (Muhabere Memuru) in Skopje (Üsküp). Mehmet Sabri then moved to Prizren, Karabulak and Hudavendigar from 1899 to 1905. The last post was in Aydın in 1905/06.
Pay rose from 250 kuruş a month in 1897/98 to a peak of 500 in 1905/06, as Muhabere Memuru in Aydın, when half the paid officials earned less. The last annual entry is for 1905/06.
