Life#
Born in Beirut (Beyrut) in 1876/77 (AH 1293), MEHMET MÜNİP EFENDİ came from the Muslim (Müslüman) community; the father was a tradesman (esnaf). Schooling took seven years, at a middle school (Rüşdiye Mektebi); MEHMET MÜNİP also wrote Arabic as well as Turkish and held a qualification (a diploma, certificate, training or decoration).
MEHMET MÜNİP began work in Beirut in 1896/97, at about 20, with one unpaid year as a mülazım (apprentice) before a first salary of 142 kuruş. From 1897/98 to 1904/05 every annual entry places MEHMET MÜNİP in Beirut, the birthplace, first as Mevsillik, from 1902/03 as a postal official (Posta Memuru).
