Life#
Born in Burdur in 1839/40 (AH 1255), Ali Riza Efendi came from the Muslim (Müslüman) community. The first annual entry, for 1871/72, places Ali Riza in Erzurum as DH Muduru. Next came Novi Pazar (Yenipazar) and Preveza (Preveze) from 1874 to 1877, then Zor from 1877 to 1882. From 1882 to 1893 every annual entry places Ali Riza in Aleppo (Halep), first in the Defter-i Hakani Kalemi, from 1887/88 as Emlak Memuru.
The salary went from 1,000 kuruş a month in 1871/72 to 1,400 in 1877/78, the peak, in the Defter-i Hakani Kalemi in Zor, when 88 per cent of paid officials earned less. Abdülhamid döneminde Sicill-i Ahval kayıtlarına göre Burdurlu kamu ..." by ELİF YASEMİN YILMAZ (2021) probably refers to Ali Riza, since the name, the birthplace and the archive register and page agree.
