Ramiz Remzi Efendi

The life of Ramiz Remzi Efendi began in Pristina (Priştine) in 1866/67 (AH 1283). Work began in Pristina in 1882/83, at about 16. The annual lists begin in 1882/83, with Ramiz Remzi as Tahrirat Kalemi stajyeri in Pristina, the birthplace, where the entries run to 1885/86. Alongside, the lists for 1885 to 1889 give a second post, in a post with no place named as Mektupçu Kalemi mübeyyizi. At the same time, from 1888 to 1898, the lists also place Ramiz Remzi in Pristina as Tahrirat Kalemi mübeyyizi. Alongside, the lists for 1897/98 give a second post, in a post with no place named as Mektupçu Kalemi müsevvidi. Next came Lom in 1903/04, as a district governor (Kaymakam). Alongside, the lists for 1903/04 give a second post, in Kičevo as Kaymakam. The annual lists then follow Ramiz Remzi to Kastoria (Kesriye), Haymana and Kolašin (Kolaşin) from 1905 to 1912. Alongside, the lists for 1911/12 give a second post, in Bijelo Polje as Kaymakam. Seven places on two continents in all, a number reached by fewer than 6 per cent of the 6,605 officials with a place of service.

Pay rose from 100 kuruş a month in 1882/83 to a peak of 2,000 in 1909/10, as Kaymakam in Haymana, when 86 per cent of paid officials earned less. The last annual entry is for 1911/12.
