Life and register readings
Mehmed Zati Efendi was born in Travnik in 1845/46 (AH 1262). At about 17, in 1863/64, Mehmed Zati began work in Travnik. The annual lists begin in 1863/64, with Mehmed Zati as Travnik Sancağı Tahrirat Kalemi mülâzımı in Travnik, the birthplace, where the entries run to 1873/74. For 1864 to 1869 the lists have no entry. Alongside, the lists for 1876 to 1879 give a second post, in Travnik as Meclis-i Temyiz Hukuk ikinci kâtibi. The lists have no entry for 1879 to 1891. The last posts were in Istanbul from 1891 to 1895.
