Life and register readings

Mehmed Cemil Efendi was born in Kemaliye (Eğin) in 1851/52 (AH 1268) into the İslam community; the father's occupation was "Piyade taburu kâtibi". At about 22, in 1874/75, Mehmed Cemil began work in Erzurum. The annual lists begin in 1874/75, with Mehmed Cemil as Rüsûmât Nezareti mülazımı in Erzurum. Next came Erzincan from 1876 to 1885, then Malazgirt in 1885/86 and Kemaliye in 1887/88. The lists have no entry for 1878 to 1884 and 1888 to 1894. The last entries, from 1894 to 1897, name Mehmed Cemil as Vergi kâtibi, with no place.
