Life and register readings
Born in Bursa in 1844/45 (AH 1260), Mehmed Nihad Efendi came from the İslam community; the father's occupation was "Bursa Eminiyye Dergâhı postnişini". Work began in Bursa in 1860/61, at about 16. The first annual entry, for 1860/61, places Mehmed Nihad in Bursa, the birthplace, as Bursa tahrîrat kalemi; mülâzemetle, where the entries run to 1865/66. The last entries, from 1866 to 1886, name Mehmed Nihad as Bursa mektubçu kalemi; mübeyyiz, with no place. For 1867 to 1871 the lists have no entry. The lists have no entry for 1881 to 1885.
