Life and register readings
Born in Istanbul in 1874/75 (AH 1291), İbrahim Edhem Efendi was the child of a merchant (tüccar). Work began in Istanbul in 1896/97, at about 22, on a first salary of 100 kuruş. From the first annual entry, for 1896/97, to 1909/10, every annual entry places İbrahim Edhem in the same post, Maarif Nezareti Muhasebe Kalemi memuru, in Istanbul, the birthplace.
