Life and register readings
The life of Osman Efendi began in Didymoteicho (Dimetoka) in 1857/58 (AH 1274). At about 19, in 1877/78, Osman began work in Didymoteicho, on a first salary of 500 kuruş. From the first annual entry, for 1877/78, to 1883/84, every annual entry places Osman in the same post, Aşar katibi, in Didymoteicho, the birthplace. In place of a title the lists give Infisal for 1878.
