Life and register readings

The life of Mustafa Kâmil Bey began in Sivas in 1855/56 (AH 1272). Work began in 1870/71, at about 15. The annual lists begin in 1870/71, with Mustafa Kâmil as stajyer and no place named. Mustafa Kâmil then moved back to Sivas, the birthplace, from 1871 to 1873, then Amasya in 1875/76 and Sivas in 1876/77. For 1873 to 1875 and 1877 to 1879 the lists have no entry. Alongside, the lists for 1876/77 give a second post, in Konya as matbaa müdür vekili. The annual lists then follow Mustafa Kâmil to Tokat, Kırşehir and Thessaloniki (Selanik) from 1879 to 1886. The lists have no entry for 1882 to 1885. The last posts were in Kayseri from 1886 to 1889. Few officials served in as many places; fewer than 6 per cent of the 6,605 officials with a place of service did.
