Life and register readings
Mehmet Ata Efendi was born in Sivas in 1845/46 (AH 1262), into the İslam community, and the father's occupation was "mumcu". At about 16, in 1862/63, Mehmet Ata began work in Amasya. The first annual entry, for 1862/63, places Mehmet Ata in Amasya as Tahrirat kalemi stajyeri, where the entries run to 1873/74. The lists have no entry for 1863 to 1867, 1868 to 1870 and 1871 to 1873. Alongside, the lists for 1873/74 give a second post, in Erbaa as Mal Muduru. Next came a return to Amasya from 1875 to 1879. For 1876 to 1878 and 1879 to 1882 the lists have no entry. The last post was in Niğde in 1894/95. The lists have no entry for 1884 to 1894.
