Born in Malatya in 1878 (AH 1295), Hüseyin Hüsnü Efendi was the child of a merchant (tüccar). At about 16, in 1893/94, Hüseyin Hüsnü began work. The first annual entry, for 1893/94, names Hüseyin Hüsnü as yevmiyeli işçi, with no place. The lists have no entry for 1894 to 1898 and 1899 to 1905.
