Life and register readings
Work began in Istanbul in 1842/43 (AH 1258). The first annual entry, for 1842/43, places Mehmed Salih Efendi in Istanbul as Bâb Mahkemesi kâtibi, where the entries run to 1845. For 1845 to 1851 the lists have no entry. Next came Manisa and Kartal from 1851 to 1877. The lists have no entry for 1853 to 1855, 1856 to 1876 and 1877 to 1899.
