Life and register readings
The life of Rıdvanbeyzâde Süleyman Bey began in Hersek in 1851/52 (AH 1268). Work began in Gevgelija (Gevgili) in 1890/91, at about 39. Of the 5,664 officials whose age at first work is known, fewer than 4 per cent started at 39 or older. The first annual entry, for 1890/91, places Rıdvanbeyzâde Süleyman in Gevgelija as Ağnam memuru. The annual lists then follow Rıdvanbeyzâde Süleyman to a post with no place named from 1891 to 1904, with a rise to Nahiye Muduru in 1892/93. Alongside, the lists for 1903 to 1907 give a second post, in Tokat as Nahiye Muduru. Alongside, the lists for 1906 to 1910 give a second post, in a post with no place named as Nahiye Muduru.
Pay rose from 200 kuruş a month in 1891/92 to a peak of 480 in 1898/99, as Nahiye Muduru, when 55 per cent of paid officials earned less. The final annual entry is for 1909/10.
