Life and register readings
The life of Receb Cemal Efendi began in Istanbul in 1880/81 (AH 1298); the father's occupation was "Kömür tüccarı". Receb Cemal began work in 1895/96, at about 15. The first annual entry, for 1895/96, names Receb Cemal as İdare Kalemi mülazımı, with no place. For 1907 to 1909 the lists have no entry. The lists give Infisal for 1909/10 instead of a title.
