Life and register readings
Born in Safranbolu in 1865/66 (AH 1282), Mehmed Tevfik Efendi came from the İslam community; the father's occupation was "Rüşdiye muallimi (mütekaid)". At about 18, in 1883/84, Mehmed Tevfik began work, on a first salary of 550 kuruş. The annual lists begin in 1883/84, with Mehmed Tevfik as Aşar muvakkat kol katibi and no place named.
