Life and register readings
Salih Zeki Efendi was born in Bursa in 1881/82 (AH 1299), into the İslam community, and the father's occupation was "Prizren sancağı bidâyet muhâkemesi cezareisi sabık". Work began in 1904/05, at about 22, on a first salary of 400 kuruş. The annual lists begin in 1904/05, with Salih Zeki as (Okunamadı) hane-i hümâyun ketebeliği and no place named. For 1905 to 1908 the lists have no entry. The lists give Infisal for 1909/10 instead of a title.
The salary never rose above the first in the lists, 400 kuruş a month in 1904/05, when 42 per cent of paid officials earned less. The final annual entry is for 1910/11.
