Life and register readings
Ömer Sabri Efendi was born in Malatya in 1875/76 (AH 1292); the father's occupation was "Malatya Sancağı Nüfus Memuru". At about 16, in 1890/91, Ömer Sabri began work, on a first salary of 40 kuruş. The first annual entry, for 1890/91, names Ömer Sabri as Tahrirat Kalemi Mübeyyizi, with no place. Next came Bitlis from 1894 to 1896.
