Life and register readings
Sami Arslan Bey was born in Cebel-i Lübnan (köy adı belirtilmemiş) in 1871/72 (AH 1288). At about 18, in 1889/90, Sami Arslan began work in Beirut (Beyrut), on a first salary of 60 kuruş. The first annual entry, for 1889/90, places Sami Arslan in Beirut as Beyrut Vilayeti Meclis-i İdare Kalemi mübeyyizi. The annual lists then follow Sami Arslan to Cebeli lubnan from 1892 to 1904. The last entries, from 1904 to 1909, name Sami Arslan as Şuf kaymakamı, with no place. In place of a title the lists give Mazuliyet for 1908/09.
