Born in Bursa in 1878 (AH 1295), İsmail Efendi came from the İslam community. İsmail began work in 1902/03, at about 24. The annual lists begin in 1902/03, with İsmail as bölük emini and no place named. The lists have no entry for 1904 to 1906. In place of a title the lists give Infisal for 1903/04 and İstifa (resignation) for 1907/08.
