Life and register readings
Born in Dagistan in 1862/63 (AH 1279), Mustafa Vasfi Efendi was the child of a merchant (tüccar). The personnel record dates the first work to 1885/86, after the first annual entry, on a first salary of 200 kuruş. The annual lists begin in 1878/79, with Mustafa Vasfi as 4. Kolordu 31. Piyade Alayı 4. Tabur 2. Bölük gönüllü askerliği (Görevin sona ermesi) and no place named. For 1879 to 1885 and 1894 to 1898 the lists have no entry. From 1898 to 1905 the annual entries place Mustafa Vasfi in Thessaloniki (Selanik). The lists have no entry for 1899 to 1904. In place of a title the lists give İstifa (resignation) for 1893/94.
