Life and register readings
Born in Antakya in 1872/73 (AH 1289), Mehmed Kamil Efendi came from the İslam community; the father's occupation was "Halep Düyun-ı Umumiye müsevvidi". Work began in Aleppo (Halep) in 1892/93, at about 20. The first annual entry, for 1892/93, names Mehmed Kamil as Stajyer, with no place. At the same time, from 1896/97, the lists also place Mehmed Kamil in Gaziantep (Antep) as Düyun-ı Umumiye İdaresi Kâtibi. Next came a return to Antakya, the birthplace, from 1897 to 1900. Alongside, the lists for 1898/99 give a second post, in Pazarcık as Tahsildar (ek görev, geçici). The last entry, for 1899/1900, names Mehmed Kamil as Mahkeme Kâtib-i Sanisi Vekili (ek iş), with no place.
The salary never rose above the first in the lists, 450 kuruş a month in 1896/97, when half the paid officials earned less. The final annual entry is for 1899/1900.
