Life and register readings
Süleyman Efendi was born in Giresun. The personnel record dates the first work to 1882/83 (AH 1300), after the first annual entry, on a first salary of 250 kuruş. The first annual entry, for 1875/76, places Süleyman in Trabzon as asker (Kale Topçuluğu nefer, bölük emini) (Görevin sona ermesi). The lists have no entry for 1876 to 1882.
