Life and register readings
Mehmed Said Bey was born in Bursa, into the İslam community, and the father's occupation was "Kirmasti kazası aşar memuru; sabık müderris". Work began in 1874/75 (AH 1291). The first annual entry, for 1874/75, names Mehmed Said as mektubî kalemi (mülazemet), with no place. The annual lists then follow Mehmed Said back to Bursa, the birthplace, from 1876 to 1878. Alongside, the lists for 1877 to 1879 give a second post, in a post with no place named as mübeyyiz ve mukayid. Alongside, the lists for 1878 to 1881 give a second post, in Bursa as tahrirat mukayidliği. For 1881 to 1889 the lists have no entry. The last entry, for 1889/90, names neither a title nor a place. In place of a title the lists give Infisal for 1877/78.
The salary went from 250 kuruş a month in 1876/77 to 500 in 1889/90, the peak, when 56 per cent of paid officials earned less. The final annual entry is for 1889/90.
