Mustafa Suphi Efendi was born in Harput in 1853/54 (AH 1270); the father's occupation was "Osmanlı ordusunda binbaşı". The annual lists begin in 1878/79, with Mustafa Suphi as Fırka mukayyidi in Diyarbakır. For 1879 to 1883 the lists have no entry. Next came Zakho (Zaho) and Mosul (Musul) from 1894 to 1896.
