MEHMED ES‟AD EFENDĠ was born in Antalya in 1872/73 (AH 1289); the father's occupation was "Antalya tüccar ve ziraat reisi; belediye azası; İdare-i Mahsusa vapurları acentesi". Work began in Antalya in 1887/88, at about 16. The first annual entry, for 1887/88, places MEHMED ES‟AD EFENDĠ in Antalya, the birthplace, as Sancak muhasebe kalemi mülazımı, where the entries run to 1897/98. For 1888 to 1892 the lists have no entry. The last entry, for 1898/99, names MEHMED ES‟AD EFENDĠ as Düyun-ı Umumiye idaresi memur vekili, with no place.
