Mehmed Kâmil Paşa was born in Nicosia (Lefkoşa) in 1832/33 (AH 1248). The father’s occupation was Topçu Asakir-i Şahane Yüzbaşısı. Schooling included Kıbrıs mektepleri; Elsine Medresesi (Mekteb-i Harbiye’ye tahvil); fünun-ı askeriye tahsili. The language repertoire included Arabic, Persian and Rum (as recorded). [source]
