The life

Mehmed Şakir Efendi was born in Antakya in 1836/37 (AH 1252), within the İslam community. The father’s occupation was Cami-i Kebir imamı ve hatibi. Schooling included Pederi nezdinde medrese tipi ilimler (sarf, nahiv, fıkıh). The language repertoire included Arabic and Turkish.^[1]

Service began in Antakya in 1864/65 (AH 1281). Dated career entries span 1864/65 (AH 1281) to 1908/09 (AH 1326) across 33 AH years, beginning with Tahrir Fırkası Muharrir-i Sanisi.
