Life and register readings
The life of SEYİT ALİ EFENDİ began in Kirkuk (Kerkük) in 1876/77 (AH 1293); the father's occupation was "Kerbela sancağı defterhakani memuru". ALİ studied at a school for young children (Sıbyan Mektebi).
Work began in Kirkuk in 1892/93, at about 16. The first annual entry, for 1892/93, places ALİ in Kirkuk, the birthplace, as defterhakani kalemi mülazımı, where the entries run to 1903/04. For 1893 to 1898 the lists have no entry. At the same time, from 1903/04, the lists also place ALİ in Van as vilayet avkaf müdürü. The lists have no entry for 1906 to 1908.
