Life and register readings
Mehmed Said Bey was born in Istanbul in 1869/70 (AH 1286); the father's occupation was "Umur-ı Şehbenderî Kalemi mümeyyizi". At about 19, in 1888/89, Mehmed Said began work. The annual lists begin in 1888/89, with Mehmed Said as Mektubî-i Hariciye Kalemi mülazımı and no place named. For 1889 to 1898 the lists have no entry. Alongside, the lists for 1899/1900 give a second post, in Niš as Başşehbender.
