Life and register readings
Numan Sabit Efendi was born in Gjilan (Gilan) in 1878/79 (AH 1296); the father's occupation was "Gilan Kazası nüfus sicil memuru". The first annual entry, for 1897/98, places Numan Sabit in Gjilan, the birthplace, as Tahrirat kâtibi vekili, where the entries run to 1899/1900. For 1900 to 1904 the lists have no entry. Numan Sabit then moved to Nova Varoš in 1904/05, then back to Gjilan from 1905 to 1908. Alongside, the lists for 1906 to 1909 give a second post, in a post with no place named as Görevin sona ermesi. Alongside, the lists for 1907/08 give a second post, in Štip as Mal Müdürlüğü refiki. The lists give İstifa (resignation) for 1907/08 instead of a title.
Pay rose from 140 kuruş a month in 1897/98 to a peak of 500 in 1905/06, in Gjilan, when 52 per cent of paid officials earned less. The last annual entry is for 1908/09.
