İsmail Efendi

The life of İsmail Efendi began in Didymoteicho (Dimetoka) in 1880/81 (AH 1298); the father's occupation was "Ziraatçi". The personnel record dates the first work in Edirne to 1900/01, after the first annual entry. The first annual entry, for 1891/92, places İsmail in Edirne as Ziraat Bankası şubesi stajyeri (İnfisal). At the same time, from 1891/92, the lists also place İsmail in Uzunköprü (Cisr-i Ergene) as Aşar kâtibi. Alongside, the lists for 1891 to 1906 give a second post, in Didymoteicho as Ziraat Bankası sandığı muhasebe kitabeti refiki. Alongside, the lists for 1900/01 give a second post, in Edirne as Ziraat Bankası şubesi stajyeri. Next came Serres (Siroz) from 1905 to 1908. Alongside, the lists for 1907 to 1909 give a second post, in Zlatograd as Ziraat Bankası sandığı muhasebe kâtibi. Few officials served in as many places; fewer than 8 per cent of the 6,605 officials with a place of service did.

The salary went from 450 kuruş a month in 1891/92 to 1,000 in 1911, the peak, in Gjirokastër, when 62 per cent of paid officials earned less. The final annual entry is for 1911.
