Complaint, investigation and trial in Trabzon led to dismissal, confirmed by the Şura-yı Devlet. A Selanik idare meclisi mazbata dated 27 Ocak 1884 (no. 1223) confirmed the abuse, and he confessed it himself. No penal sanction followed.

Görevinde su-i istimal gösterdiği gerekçesiyle bazı kişiler tarafından şikâyet edilmesi
üzerine hakkında tahk ikat yapılarak 18 Ağustos 1878’ de Trabzon’da yapılan
mahkeme sonucu görevinden azledilmiştir. Karar Şûrâ-yı Devlet tarafından tasdik
olunmuştur. Selanik Vilâyeti İdare Meclisi tarafından yazılan 27 Ocak 1884 tarihli,
1223 numar alı mazbatada memuriyetindeki sû -i istimal tasdik olunmuştur .
Hâfız Rüşdü Efendi Cide Kaymakamlığı sırasında Petriç Kaymakamlığındaki
Hâfız Rüşdü Efendi Petriç Kazası Kaymakamlığında bulunduğu esnada
memuriyetinden azledilmiş ve bir şikâyetten ötürü hakkında tahkikat yapılsa da
herhangi bir cezai işlem görmemiştir38.
Notes on the source account
- A dismissal in 1878 plus 2 years 11 months out of office places the Cide appointment around 1881, which conflicts with the Seydiler appointment dated 1880.
- The 1886 resignation is reported in a document dated 1884.
- The trainee spell from 1848 has no end date. The 1858 transfer gives at most a 10-year upper bound, so internship is left null.
- The footnote locates Şehripazar in Bağdad Şehrizor, which seems doubtful, but the source note is retained as given.
