Life and register readings
Born in Bursa in 1852/53 (AH 1269) into the İslam community, Mehmed Said Efendi was the child of a tradesman (esnaf). Mehmed Said began work in Bursa in 1878, at about 25. The annual lists begin in 1878, with Mehmed Said as Bursa tahrir-i alat kalemi (mülazemet) in Bursa, the birthplace. Mehmed Said then moved to a post with no place named from 1879 to 1891.
