Life and register readings
Mustafa Sabri Efendi was born in Bosna in 1875/76 (AH 1292); the father's occupation was "Asâkir-i Şâhâne binbaşısı". At about 13, in 1887/88, Mustafa Sabri began work. Fewer than 5 per cent of the 5,664 officials whose age at first work is known began work at 13 or younger. The annual lists begin in 1887/88, with Mustafa Sabri as Telgrafhane mülazımı in Louros (Loros). The lists have no entry for 1888 to 1898. Mustafa Sabri then moved to Ioannina (Yanya) and Elassona (Alasonya) from 1898 to 1904. For 1899 to 1901 the lists have no entry. Alongside, the lists for 1901 to 1904 give a second post, in Himarë as Telgraf ve Posta Merkezi müdürü. Alongside, the lists for 1903 to 1906 give a second post, in a post with no place named as Telgraf ve posta merkezi muhabere memuru. The last post was in Ioannina again in 1907/08.
The salary never rose above the first in the lists, 500 kuruş a month in 1901/02, in Elassona, when 54 per cent of paid officials earned less. The last annual entry is for 1907/08.
