Life and register readings

Born in Hadim in 1856/57 (AH 1273), Seyyid Hacı Hasan Sabri Efendi came from the İslam community. The annual lists begin in 1876/77, with Hasan Sabri as Asâkir-i Muâvene-i İlmiye 2. Tabur mensubu and no place named. The lists have no entry for 1877 to 1892. Next came Istanbul from 1892 to 1905. At the same time, from 1902 to 1916, the lists also place Hasan Sabri in a post with no place named as Tedkik-i Müellefât Encümeni azası. Alongside, the lists for 1911 to 1921 give a second post, in Istanbul as İdâre-i Emvâl-i Eytam Meclisi azası. Entries spanning 47 years are rare, reached by fewer than 2 per cent of the 8,239 officials.

Pay rose from 95 kuruş a month in 1892/93 to a peak of 1,200 in 1915/16, in Istanbul, when 56 per cent of paid officials earned less. The final annual entry is for 1920/21.
