Life and register readings
The life of Hüseyin Hüsnü Efendi② began in Didymoteicho (Dimetoka) in 1839/40 (AH 1255). The first annual entry, for 1862/63, names Hüseyin Hüsnü Efendi② as Rüsumat kâtibi, with no place. The annual lists then follow Hüseyin Hüsnü Efendi② to Sliven (İslimiye) and Edirne from 1863 to 1869. Alongside, the lists for 1868 to 1872 give a second post, in a post with no place named as Ahyolu Bergosu Rüsumat Müdüriyeti başkâtibi. Hüseyin Hüsnü Efendi② then moved to Milas and Kandıra from 1873 to 1878. For 1875 to 1877 the lists have no entry. Alongside, the lists for 1879 to 1881 give a second post, in Cebeli bereket as Cebelibereket Sancağı Aşar müdürü. Next came Rhodes (Rodos) in 1881/82. Alongside, the lists for 1888/89 give a second post, in Cide as Cide Sancağı muhasebecisi. In place of a title the lists give Infisal for 1885/86. Few officials served in as many provinces; fewer than 2 per cent of the 6,605 officials with a place of service did.
Pay rose from 250 kuruş a month in 1862/63 to a peak of 2,250 in 1888/89, in Cide, when 95 per cent of paid officials earned less. In all, 14 years of salary come to 168,084 kuruş, 2.4 times what an official on the median salary earned in those years. The final annual entry is for 1888/89.
