Life and register readings
Yigor Efendi was born in Istanbul in 1835/36 (AH 1251); the father's occupation was "Mabeyn-i Hümayun memuru". Work began in 1854/55, at about 19, on a first salary of 800 kuruş. The annual lists begin in 1854/55, with Yigor as Saray-ı Hümayun eczahanesi görevlisi and no place named. The lists have no entry for 1859 to 1866 and 1880 to 1896. In place of a title the lists give Vefat (death) for 1896/97. Few careers in the lists are as long; fewer than 4 per cent of the 8,239 officials have entries spanning 44 years or more.
