Life and register readings
Yorgi Efendi was born in Bandırma in 1877/78 (AH 1294) into the Hristiyan community; the father's occupation was "Rençber". The annual lists begin in 1894/95, with Yorgi as Düyun-ı Umumiye 1. Kol Esmare kâtibi in Bandırma, the birthplace, where the entries run to 1899/1900. At the same time, from 1899/1900, the lists also place Yorgi in Konya as Daimî Düyun-ı Umumiye memuru.
The salary never rose above the first in the lists, 400 kuruş a month in 1897/98, in Bandırma, when 45 per cent of paid officials earned less. The last annual entry is for 1899/1900.
