Life#
Born in Harem (Harim) in 1890/91 (AH 1308) into the Muslim (Müslüman) community, Ahmet Hamdi Efendi was the child of a telegraph official (telgraf memuru). Ahmet Hamdi had seven years of schooling, at a middle school (Rüşdiye Mektebi), wrote Arabic as well as Turkish, and held a qualification (a diploma, certificate, training or decoration).
At about 18, in 1909/10, Ahmet Hamdi began work in Kahramanmaraş (Maraş), paid from the start, on 150 kuruş a month. The first annual entry, for 1909/10, places Ahmet Hamdi in Kahramanmaraş as a candidate official (Mülazım). The last post was in Osmaniye in 1911, with a rise to Muayene Memuru.
