Life and register readings
Mehmet Raşit Efendi was born in Sivas in 1830/31 (AH 1246), into the İslam community. At about 14, in 1844/45, Mehmet Raşit began work. The first annual entry, for 1844/45, names Mehmet Raşit as muhasebe mülazımı, with no place. The annual lists then follow Mehmet Raşit back to Sivas, the birthplace, from 1845 to 1860, then a post with no place named from 1867 to 1873.
