Life and register readings

Đsmail Hakkı Efendi was born in Istanbul in 1830/31 (AH 1246), into the İslam community, and the father's occupation was "Dersiam". At about 27, in 1857/58, Đsmail Hakkı began work, on a first salary of 200 kuruş. The annual lists begin in 1857/58, with Đsmail Hakkı as rüşdiye muallim-i sanisi and no place named. Alongside, the lists for 1865/66 give a second post, in Istanbul as Postahane-i Amire muhasebe müdürü. The lists have no entry for 1868 to 1871. Alongside, the lists for 1871 to 1873 give a second post, in Geyve as a district governor (Kaymakam). The annual lists then follow Đsmail Hakkı to Göynük from 1873 to 1876. Alongside, the lists for 1875 to 1878 give a second post, in a post with no place named as Kaymakam. For 1878 to 1883 the lists have no entry. Alongside, the lists for 1878 give a second post, in Elbistan as tahkikat memuru. Đsmail Hakkı then moved to Kıyıköy in 1883/84. Alongside, the lists for 1883 to 1885 give a second post, in Mürefte as Kaymakam. Alongside, the lists for 1884 to 1890 give a second post, in a post with no place named as Kaymakam.

Pay rose from 200 kuruş a month in 1857/58 to a peak of 1,800 in 1871/72, as Kaymakam in Geyve, when 86 per cent of paid officials earned less. The last annual entry is for 1897/98.
