Life and register readings
Mehmet Behçet Bey was born in Tosya in 1876/77 (AH 1293); the father's occupation was "Orman muhafaza memuru". At about 14, in 1889/90, Mehmet Behçet began work in Tosya. The annual lists begin in 1889/90, with Mehmet Behçet as Tahrirat Kalemi stajyeri in Tosya, the birthplace. Mehmet Behçet then moved to a post with no place named from 1891 to 1899. For 1893 to 1897 the lists have no entry. Alongside, the lists for 1898 to 1907 give a second post, in Istanbul as Hazine-i Hassa Sandık Hatab Ambarı Kalemi kâtibi.
