Life and register readings
Tahir Tayyar Efendi was born in 1847/48 (AH 1264). Work began in Mostar in 1871/72, at about 23. The annual lists begin in 1871/72, with Tahir Tayyar as Tahrirat Kalemi mülazımı in Mostar, where the entries run to 1873/74. The lists have no entry for 1874 to 1882. Alongside, the lists for 1873/74 give a second post, in a post with no place named as Tahrirat kâtibi. Tahir Tayyar then moved to Shkodër (İşkodra) from 1882 to 1888. In place of a title the lists give Infisal for 1887/88.
Pay rose from 250 kuruş a month in 1873/74 to a peak of 300 in 1882/83, when 27 per cent of paid officials earned less. Over eight years the salaries add up to 28,200 kuruş, 73 per cent of what an official on the median salary earned. The final annual entry is for 1888/89.
