Life and register readings
Born in Aleppo (Halep) in 1875/76 (AH 1292), Mıgırdıç Mümtaz Efendi came from the Hristiyan community; the father's occupation was "Keresteci esnafı". Work began in 1888/89, at about 14. The first annual entry, for 1888/89, names Mıgırdıç Mümtaz as Düyun-ı Umumiye İdaresi görevlisi, with no place. At the same time, from 1890 to 1894, the lists also place Mıgırdıç Mümtaz in Aleppo as Düyun-ı Umumiye İdaresi görevlisi. Alongside, the lists for 1893/94 give a second post, in a post with no place named as Memleha geçici kâtibi. Alongside, the lists for 1893 to 1897 give a second post, in İskenderun as Düyun-ı Umumiye İdaresi memuru.
The salary went from 200 kuruş a month in 1890/91 to 500 in 1891/92, the peak, in Aleppo, when 56 per cent of paid officials earned less. The last annual entry is for 1896/97.
