Life and register readings
Mehmed Nasih Efendi was born in Şanlıurfa (Urfa) in 1844/45 (AH 1260) into the İslam community; the father was a deputy judge (naib). Work began in Şanlıurfa in 1866/67, at about 22. The annual lists begin in 1866/67, with Mehmed Nasih as Mahkeme-i şer'iyye kâtibi in Şanlıurfa, the birthplace. For 1867 to 1869 the lists have no entry. The annual lists then follow Mehmed Nasih to a post with no place named from 1869 to 1878, then Erbil and Gevaş from 1879 to 1888. The lists have no entry for 1878 to 1879, 1880 to 1882, 1883 to 1885 and 1888 to 1891. The last entry, for 1891/92, names Mehmed Nasih as Naib, with no place. In place of a title the lists give Infisal for 1877/78.
