Life and register readings
Born in Ürgüp, Dere Mahallesi in 1844/45 (AH 1260), İbrahim Ethem Efendi was the child of a merchant (tüccar). İbrahim Ethem began work in Ürgüp in 1862/63, at about 18. The first annual entry, for 1862/63, places İbrahim Ethem in Ürgüp as Tahrirat ve mal kalemleri mülazımı. Next came Darende in 1872/73. The lists have no entry for 1864 to 1872 and 1873 to 1887.
