Life and register readings
The life of Mehmed Arif Efendi began in Harput in 1858/59 (AH 1275). Work began in 1874/75, at about 16. The first annual entry, for 1874/75, places Mehmed Arif in Elazığ as Vilayet muhasebe kalemi mülazımı. Mehmed Arif then moved back to Elazığ from 1883 to 1887. For 1878 to 1883 the lists have no entry. The last post was in Komotini (Gümülcine) in 1887/88.
