Life and register readings
The life of Mustafa Efendi began in Sivas in 1855/56 (AH 1272). Work began in Sivas in 1883/84, at about 28, on a first salary of 300 kuruş. The first annual entry, for 1887/88, places Mustafa in Sivas, the birthplace, as polis neferi (İstifa), where the entries run to 1892/93. For 1888 to 1892 the lists have no entry. Alongside, the lists for 1892 to 1894 give a second post, in Kocgiri as polis neferi. At the same time, from 1893/94, the lists also place Mustafa in Mecitözü as üçüncü sınıf polis komiseri. The lists give Infisal for 1887/88 instead of a title.
Pay rose from 300 kuruş a month in 1892/93 to a peak of 350 in 1893/94, in Mecitözü, when 38 per cent of paid officials earned less. The last annual entry is for 1893/94.
